U.K based artist Banditsu and R&B singer Taliwhoah unite for their captivating visual for “Selfish” that takes inspiration from the 1987 punk film “Sid and Nancy”, and aims to shed light on human nature and toxic relationships.
Ignoring the traditional music video formula,”Selfish” pushes social constructs and creates a world where racial stereotypes completely erode through a clever Mixture of sub-cultures. Banditsu credits Punk for transforming youth culture in the UK and wanted to commemorate the genres influence during its 40th year anniversary through a collaboration with Underground shoes.
The message behind “Selfish” transcends social and racial boundaries and starts an important conversation about pain, vulnerability and the role it plays in art and music. Banditsu goes beyond lyrics to connect the audience to the message and creates a cinematic experience.
Through striking visuals, unique storytelling and relatability, “Selfish”
stands out from the visuals we are seeing today.
