Anti-Norm editorial by Nkem Vibez and team

Published

on

Nkem Vibez, a creative director and fashion stylist based in New York City, debuts latest project. Anti-Norm is inspired by the fallacious belief that gender exists in fashion. As a result, society tames us and dictates what is deemed the norm, Leaving very little room for creativity in contemporary fashion.  In opposition to this ideology, this generation has begun blurring the lines between gender and fashion. Hence, The project “Anti- Norm” Is another step forward to correct the ill mindset of the people in our society. It effectively shows that gender should not be a criteria for one to express themselves through fashion. Working with my team- Dustin Bice (Model) , Jessica Portville (Photographer) , Alyssa Bono (Make up Artist), was incredible. They completely understood and loved the vision. Together, we executed a project that was not only visually captivating but also monumental.

J.Papa SS18 Lookbook: showing the diverse life of the J.Papa girl based in downtown NYC

Published

on

The SS18 season’s muse is L’Ka Tea, aka @_wafffles. This girl is cooler than cool based in NYC by way of Kazakhstan. In addition to her growing modeling career, L’Ka is a talented skate boarder and b girl dancer. Photographer Meredith Jenks was perfect for capturing L’Ka’s energy as a true J.Papa girl. This was Meredith’s 4th season shooting for J.Papa and we continue to be honored to work with such a dynamic artist who blends fashion and street photography seamlessly creating each seasons editorial style look book. Make up was beautifully executed by Aya Kudo with styling by Christina Tung who has really helped emulate the J.Papa attitude into a brand.

Fabrics used for the SS18 collection are protective and versatile while still maintaining a signature sexy silhouette. Each piece in every J.Papa collection is based on interchangeable separates which is important as the J.Papa label prides itself on diversity, allowing something for everyone. With this years change in leadership, creating a rollercoaster of hope, it was especially important to design a line that the J.Papa girl can keep her shit together in while taking on all of the societal elements thrown her way!
